A BBC investigation has revealed that children in Indonesia are working in mines to collect materials used in our gadgets.  Mines are extremely dangerous as people working there could lose their lives.

It has also been rumoured that the Chinese workers are being harshly treated.

 

Tin is an important “ingredient” (so what you would use) that is used in electronic devices like smartphones and tablets.

In countries like Indonesia, people (even children) work in mines to dig tin out of the ground.

It’s a dangerous job – but it’s even more dangerous if the mine is being run illegally.
